Luke is a registered general psychologist providing therapy for individuals and couples. He is passionate about using therapy to help people to make meaningful change in their lives. Luke has an open-minded and down-to-earth approach to therapy.
Luke obtained his Master of Clinical Psychology degree from the University of Queensland (UQ). He works part-time in private practice, and part-time with complex family and youth presentations in a government setting. Before becoming a psychologist, he worked as an addictions counsellor, as a member of a drug and alcohol research team, and in youth residential settings. Luke is a certified EFT Couples Therapist with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). He maintains regular supervision with experts in EFT and clinical psychology.
When working with couples, Luke makes sure to create a warm and safe environment. He believes that, with patience and understanding, couples can transform their relationship into a healthy and fulfilling partnership. He aims to help people achieve a healthy balance between personal autonomy and interdependence with their partner. Luke uses EFT for couples to assist with issues such as emotional disconnection, difficulties with communication, or desire to process challenging events such as infidelity or stressful life events.
When working with individual clients, Luke integrates a variety of approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and systems-based therapies. He is interested in helping people overcome difficulties with anxiety, low mood, trauma-related symptoms, addictions, and relationship problems. He values his ability to reflect an understanding of how each client experiences their life, without making assumptions about clients’ values or goals.
