Bridie is a provisional psychologist completing the final part of her training to become a generally registered psychologist with AHPRA. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology with Honours (first class) at Griffith University in 2020 and a Graduate Certificate of Counselling in 2021.  Bridie is directly mentored and supervised by Dr Jenny Fitzgerald, EFTTA Clinical Director.

Bridie’s area of passion is supporting secure relationships as these are pivotal in how a person sees themself, others and operates in their world. Bridie works with relationships across the lifespan, whether that be within families, romantic relationships and friendships.

Bridie has completed advanced training in:

  • Neuroaffirming practice including training on neurodivergent girls, supporting children in school, PDA, assessment of neurodivergence, autistic burnout, neurodivergent communication styles, neurodiverse relationships and more.
  • Emotionally Focused Couples and Family therapy (EFT)
  • Attachment neuroscience
  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

How is Bridie’s practice neuro-affirming?

  • She works from a social disability and neurotype model rather than pathologizing/medical model
  • She encourages expression of organic neurodivergent culture and communication styles
  • As a result of systemic thinking, she considers the impact of identity, a sense of belonging and a person’s current and past culture and family of origin as crucial in conceptualisation and treatment planning.
  • She does not aim to “cure” nor “fix” people, but considers the friction between a person’s environment and relationships with others and their neurodivergent traits as key to understanding their presenting problems (i.e. the double empathy problem).
